Edith Cavell Surgery (ECS) is accredited by Investors in People, a quality standard that focuses on delivering continuous improvement in service delivery through the development of all employees within an organisation. ECS is also a supporter of the national Apprenticeship scheme, offering practical and positive development of vocational skills beyond its core staff as a socially responsible organisation.
Apprenticeships combine practical training in a job with study. Apprentices work alongside experienced staff, gain job-specific skills, earn a wage and get holiday pay, study towards a related qualification (usually one day a week) and generally take one to four years to complete depending on their level.
ECS has employed a number of apprentices and was recently thrilled to learn that Cian Simmons who completed a one year apprenticeship at the surgery passed all of her exams. Cian’s training and development during her time at ECS enabled her to apply and subsequently be offered a job as a Senior Receptionist at Brigstock Family Practice on Friday 26 June 2015.
