Streatham High Practice hosted a very successful Health & Wellness Open Day to all members of the public on Saturday 6th June 2015 as part of PPG Awareness Week (1st – 6th June 2015).
The event was well attended with over 150 attendees, mixed with members of the general public, registered patients, PPG members and local councillors.
PPG Awareness Week aims to promote the role and benefits of PPGs to patients, the public and health professionals, to create more understanding of the value of true patient participation.
The PPG of Streatham High Practice achieved this aim triumphantly, with a very well organised event coordinated with staff at the practice, combining interactive elements such as the London Ambulance Service CPR demonstrations, Lambeth Food Co-Op gardening workshops, several activities for children as well as informative stalls including The Expert Patients Programme and Self- Care Services, Health Trainer Services and Lambeth and Southwark Action on Malnutrition Project.
Visitors also met PPG representatives and members of practice staff, learning about the services on offer at Streatham High Practice as well as within the local community.
Dr Michael Hooper’s workshop on vegetarianism had a full attendance, with visitors keen to learn about the benefits of a vegan diet.
Streatham High Practice thanked the PPG for organising an extremely valuable event for the community and intends to make the event an annual occurrence.
